Adding other programs using "rpm"
The S6 comes with an application to install any other available Fedora program, but it won't work, because there are no repositories defined. The Midinux distribution seems to be made of a combination of Fedora 6 and Fedora 7. You can define extra repositories by editing .repo files in /etc/yum.repos.d, but I've chosen to just use a site like rpm.pbone.net from the device's browser, refining my search to Fedora 6 and 7, then using the "Check Requires" link to see what other dependencies need to be satisfied and install accordingly.
Some of the other programs I've installed are:
Java 1.5 (Sun's version) is already installed on the system, so any Java programs should function without any trouble.
Because I'm a translator by trade, I look for language and translation-related programs to install. I've successfully installed and use both OmegaT and Stardict quite happily.
Here are some gratuitous screen grabs of some of the programs I've installed:
Some of the other programs I've installed are:
- QPS (A windowed Process Manager)
- GFTP (Gnome FTP)
- Notecase (hierarchical note-taking program)
- Notelab (notes program that accepts stylus input)
- KeepassX (password manager)
- Portabase (nice, lightweight database)
- Pauker (a Java-based flashcard program)
- Opera 12.01
- XChat (Graphical IRC Chat client)
- VNCServer and viewer
- Gnome games (after all these years I still like playing Solitaire and Freecell)
- Grocget (a grocery list written in Python)

To get these screen shots, I installed a program called scrot, searching on rpm.pbone.net. There was an extra dependency of libgiblib.so.1, but I was able to easily install that, too.
Anki is another program I'm very interested in installing, but there is no readily available rpm for it, so I'll have to go about building it from source. QT4 is already installed on the system, so theoretically I should just need to install a compiler and other associated programs, but QT might also need to be updated. That's not territory I've ventured into yet, but I'll get there.
